Benzoin Resin (AKA Gum Benzoin or Gum Benjamin)

A balsamic resin obtained from the bark of several species of trees in the Styrax genus. Used in incense, perfume, medicine (pharmaceutical uses), and for flavoring (e.g. in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages). Two common kinds of Benzoin Resin are Benzoin Siam (aka Styrax tonkinensis from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam) and Benzoin Sumatra (from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia).
